Civil LitigationIf you are injured due to the negligence of another, you may be entitled to compensation for any damages suffered. In terms of personal injury law, the word “damages” refers to the value of losses related to the injury. These can include medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and psychological trauma.
When an insured individual or business suffers losses and makes a claim against their insurance policy, the expectation is that they will be compensated for those losses. Unfortunately, insurance companies are inclined to seek the lowest payout possible. Without skilled legal representation, many claimants receive substantially less than they deserve or nothing at all. Litigation occurs when a legal issue cannot be settled out of court and must go to trial. Civil litigation is different from criminal litigation in that it refers to matters of liability and damages, such as personal injury and employment law cases. Although it is always our goal to settle out of court, when a reasonable settlement offer cannot be reached, we are always prepared to go to trial.
